Once upon a time, in the bustling hallways of an Indianapolis middle school, fate orchestrated a moment straight out of a movie. Joshua had just moved from Atlanta, Georgia, and Kourtney had been in Indy for two years when—boom—they quite literally collided. Books flew, papers scattered, and time seemed to pause… for just a moment. No words were exchanged—just a hurried rush to beat the bell—but that single, fleeting encounter would be the first spark in a love story years in the making.

Though they went their separate ways in middle school, destiny wasn’t finished with them yet. Fast forward to 10th grade: a Telecommunications class reconnected them. This time, Kourtney made the first move or so she thought, (being the bold woman you all know and love) she confidently walked over to Joshua, took a seat next to him, and introduced herself not knowing that Joshua had his eye on her since middle school. From that day forward, they were nearly inseparable.

Whether it was long phone calls, school dances, dates, silly adventures like playing in Walmart’s toy aisle, teaching each other to drive, or grabbing breakfast before weekend college prep courses—their connection grew deeper with each shared moment. Even their debate teacher caught on to the budding romance unfolding right before her eyes.

After high school, life carried them to different colleges and different cities—Kourtney eventually moved to Texas, while Joshua remained in Indiana. But even distance couldn’t quiet the bond they had built. Years passed, calls and visits came and went, but their hearts stayed tethered.

Then, in 2020, their paths aligned once again. Joshua flew to Houston to visit Kourtney, and they began dating exclusively—navigating love during a global pandemic, facing distance and uncertainty, but leaning on their unshakable friendship. And while life would later call them in different directions, they separated not in heartbreak, but in grace—knowing that true love sometimes requires time to grow.

For a year, they lived separate lives—Kourtney in Houston, Joshua in Indianapolis—thinking of each other often, praying for one another, but saying nothing... until one day, Joshua spoke about Kourtney on his podcast. And like any good love story, Kourtney—never one to shy away from a moment—called him out.

What was meant to be a five-minute conversation turned into an hour of laughter, honesty, and rekindled connection. It was as if no time had passed at all. When Joshua visited Kourtney in Houston again, he sat with her mom and shared his heart. He told her his intentions were to marry Kourtney—that God had blessed him with another chance to be a part of her life, and he refused to let it slip away. Within two months, Joshua moved to Houston to be with her.

Together, they deepened their faith in the Lord, planted roots in a God-filled community, and built a relationship centered on prayer, purpose, and unconditional love. This love is a testament to God’s faithfulness—His perfect timing, His promises, and His plans.
