From Teammates to Community Champions: Ben Davis Alumni Give Back
A meaningful Ben Davis alumni friendship recently sparked a generous community project benefiting the Chapel Hill 7th & 8th Grade Center softball team. Longtime friends and former Ben Davis softball teammates, Angie (Carter) Osborne (Class of 1993) and Kandy Lowe (Class of 1992), helped bring this effort to life through their shared Purple Pride and commitment to giving back.
Angie, a 30-year employee of Lowe’s Home Improvement, partnered with Kandy, now a softball coach at Chapel Hill, to connect the team with a volunteer crew from Angie’s Lowe’s location. Together, Lowe’s employees spent the day beautifying the team’s softball diamond, as well as refreshing the Ben Davis concession stand and press box.
The project ended with an unexpected and heartfelt surprise: the unveiling of a brand-new pitching machine for the team.
Both Angie and Kandy were members of the historic Final Four Ben Davis softball team, and their enduring friendship continues to make a difference—this time for the next generation of players.
